Gravel Badlands

471 kilometers – 6350 meters elevation gain

Departing from the historic Caliphate city of Granada, the itinerary leads along the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada and through the Sierra de Huétor to the arid badlands of Guadix and Gorafe. This solitary terrain, carved by wind and water erosion, evokes the rugged atmosphere of the Wild West. The route then traverses the Sierra de Baza, bordering the eastern reaches of the Sierra Nevada before descending into the Tabernas Desert. The journey continues toward the coast and the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, where its volcanic origins are revealed through a diverse palette of rocks and minerals. Following the shoreline past the idyllic beaches of Los Genoveses and Mónsul, the trail reaches the Cape of Gata and the city of Almería.
